Final meeting of Clune Park Task Group...

I chaired the final meeting of the Clune Park Task Group tonight.

Following the move of the bulk of long-term residents to the new Link Housing Association development at Lower Mary Street the Councillors, community representatives and officers on the Task Group unanimously agreed that its work had been completed. There was a recognition however that the work of the Council in Clune Park is far from complete and that will only happen when all 470 flats have been demolished.

The progress of the Council's Clune Park strategy will continue to be monitored by Councillors through regular reports to the Education and Communities Committee. Irrespective of the outcome of the ongoing court case the Clune Park Task Group is of the view that full demolition is inevitable.

I would like to thank the Councillors, officers and, in particular, the local residents who have served on the Task Group for their support and commitment during its life.
