I was deeply saddened to learn today of the death of my Labour colleague David Cairns, who had been seriously ill for the last 2 months.
David was a fine man and a first class MP. He cared deeply about social justice and for our community of Inverclyde. He will be sadly missed by all his friends and colleagues in the Inverclyde Labour Party. Team Labour has lost its star player.
My thoughts and prayers are with David's family at this sad time.
