The week ahead...

Only one meeting in the diary this week - on Monday at 4.00 to discuss bids received for the Council's Community Facilities Fund. I have a number of constituency cases on the go at present however, so I will be following them up.

Back to work on Tuesday after a fortnight off. Mind you I haven't really had many long lies as I have had to get my sons up to do their papers runs and even help them on a few occasions!

Was in work on Saturday for a few hours and been checking my emails, so the shock should not be as great as previous years.

  1. The political manouvering going on locally is very interesting to watch. The so-called independants seen in cahoots with possible labour candidate, lunching and socialising throughout Gourock and Wemyss Bay,meeting local business owners and networking in business forums throughout Inverclyde, forming coalitions before they are selected or even elected. These local businessmen seem to be buying labour 2nd preference support for independent candidates. Any wonder the bad smell of Labour lingers around Inverclyde.

  2. Name names Ian - including your own.

I think you will find that Labour will be looking for our own second preference votes in at least 5 out of 6 wards.

  3. You could probably have a good guess at the names. One independent financed by daddy, the labour candidate financed by same person, all with close personal contact to a local business man and his network of followers.Just ask around it is now common knowledge even with one of your own office bearers.

As for my first point ,You better tell the potential Labour candidates and those seeking to become independent councillors who are under the wing of the Independent money man, thats not the agenda they are following. Oh and if they are not selected to represent Labour they will be seeking election as independents with their well know financier, what a political web of deceipt, you really are out of the loop Mr McCabe. Maybe they will invite you to one of their networking evenings.

  4. Don't worry about me Ian: I've been out of the loop all my political life. I've got where I am on ability not on who I know.

    Don't underestimate me.
