I would like to offer my congratulations to the Council's Chief Executive John Mundell on the Queen's award of an OBE in recognition of his services to local government.

This is a well deserved award and a fitting way to mark the end of John's over 40 years of service to local government, including the last 10 years here in Inverclyde. I'm sure the whole Council will wish to join me in congratulating John on this honour.

Welcome for road re-surfacing project...

I was pleased to hear that the carriageways of both Auchendores Avenue and the adjacent Netherton Avenue will be re-surfaced during the week beginning 20 June as part of the Council's £29m five-year roads assets investment programme.

Both carriageways are in a fairly poor condition and I'm sure these works will be welcomed by residents. It follows on from the recent re-surfacing works on nearby by Castlehill Avenue.

The total cost of the works to Auchendores and Netherton is around £75,000.
