The Council's Education & Communities Committee will be asked on Tuesday to approve the issue of tenders for a £400,000 investment in external works at St Francis Primary School in Port Glasgow.
The works - which are due to her carried out during the summer holiday period - involve extending and reconfiguring the school car park and main pedestrian access plus the addition of areas of hard and soft landscaping.
I am delighted that these works are now proceeding as they should have been carried out when the school was refurbished back in 2004 under the then Lib-Dem led Council.
Under a separate contract work is due to start on 4th May on a new £50,000 Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) for the school. A similar MUGA will be provided at nearby St Michael's Primary School, with work on that project due to commence on 11 May.
Both MUGAs are part of a major investment by the Council in outdoor play provision in our primary school estate.

New bridge opens in Quarrier's Village...
A new, improved bridge has been opened this week in Quarrier's village.
And, it now means the village has uninterrupted two way traffic after a temporary ‘bailey bridge’ with traffic lights has been removed.
The Nittingshill Bridge has been re-opened after a project was completed by the Council at a cost of £279,000.
After carrying out final inspections today (30 April 2015), Inverclyde's roads service has now lifted a four mile diversion and traffic restriction.
For the past 10 years a ‘temporary’ bailey bridge has been in place over Gotter Water on Craigbet Road in the village.
The new bridge will allow uninterrupted two way traffic and provide a new footpath for the village.
I am delighted that this project has been completed, as I'm sure will be residents and businesses in Quarrier's. It is another example of how every part of Inverclyde is benefiting from our £29m investment in our roads assets.
